A State Of Risk
For too long government-sponsored enterprises were shrouded in misunderstanding. They were the proverbial elephant surrounded by blind people-so vast and complex that customers, investment bankers, competitors, and federal policymakers could each feel different part without appreciating the full dimensions of the animal.
Over 1980s, sight returned and government-sponsored enterprises came finally to be seen as the behemoths that they are. Today, everone perched on and around the elephant can clearly see that elephant is large and growing, and that it has strong potential or positive accomplishment, but onlu if we can assure that it moves in the right direction.
