Shattered Paradise: Essays on Political Transition in Indonesia
Scholarly works by Indonesians are often treated by the international community only as "texts." For no apparent reasons, rarely, if any, foreign Indonesianists would consider seriously the works by their Indonesian counterparts, more than just as "texts." Under this pretext, this book is published to fill the gap between the two communities. Essays compiled in this book are taken from papers by the authors, presented at various occassions. The importance of the papers lies in its record and analyses of the events during the first phase of political transition which is hitherto still taking place in Indonesia. To maintain the nuace of its complec environment during the writing of the papers, we, the publisher, decides to leave the papers original versions
