In 1956, West published a hornbook on bankruptcy by James A aclachlan. The Preface to the book began, "A One volume text on bankruptcy can not be comprehensive". Today, in 1992, a year in which abput one million bankruptcy cases will be filed and West will report thousands of opinions in more than a dozen volumes of the Bankruptcy Reporter, three volumes on bankruptcy cannot be comprehensive.
