The revival of Buddhism is one more of the many surprising developments that have been taking place on the soil of Asia of late. For the past century it had been assumed that Buddhism was dead. Supposedly, it had long ago fallen into decay. Yet now it suddenly becomes clear that the personality and doctrine of Buddha, and the religious community based upon these, still possess a vital spiritual force which is influencing the lives of many of the peoples of Asia. Right now, when the western ideas of democracy and Communism are pouring into Asia. this force is resisting the trend. It is once again becoming a significant factor in the spiritual outlook and the future destinies of Asia.
