These were triggered by the everyday events experienced by the Dutch Australian woman who spent her youth in the Dutch East Indies and her ten-years in a Japanese Prison Camp. Eve ten Brummelaar spent nearly four years in Japanese Concentrations Camps for Civilian Women on the Island of Sumatra.
